Tools for coaching executives, leaders and teams
My Approach
My coaching is grounded in the principles of Gestalt theory and informed by insights from contemporary neuroscience. I believe that meaningful change is not simply about applying new strategies, but about cultivating greater awareness, presence and emotional intelligence – qualities that are essential for effective leadership today.
Gestalt theory emphasises that we experience life not as isolated parts but as interconnected wholes. In practice, this means I pay attention to the whole person – your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and relationships – as they unfold in the present moment. Together, we explore these patterns with curiosity, creating the space for fresh insights and new ways of responding to emerge.
At the heart of my approach is relational presence. Rather than focusing solely on problems or goals, I engage fully with you in the here and now. This creates a dynamic coaching relationship where unspoken dynamics and habitual patterns can surface gently and be worked through. Many of my clients describe this process as enabling them to see themselves and their challenges with greater clarity and perspective.
My approach helps people develop the capacity to pause, reflect and respond thoughtfully. Qualities underpinned by robust neuroscientific research.

This isn’t about offering quick fixes. It’s about helping you develop the capacity to pause, reflect and respond thoughtfully – qualities underpinned by robust neuroscientific research.
The Neuroscience of Awareness and Connection
Discovering the rapidly developing world of neuroscience 20 years ago was something of an epiphany. It confirmed my long-held belief about how both supporting and challenging a person can drive high performance. Neuroscience gives us the hard science about why the “soft stuff” matters.
The writers who have most informed and shaped my coaching practice include David Rock, Iain McGilchrist, Shawn Achor, Amy Edmondson and Brené Brown.
My good friend and colleague Yda Bouvier has distilled many of our coaching exercises into her brilliant book Leading with the Right Brain. This remarkable work shows how, with a basic understanding of how the brain functions, we can transform the way we relate to our own bodies, handle high-pressure environments, connect with others, and move beyond the obvious to access our creative selves.
